On September 7th, the Appeal Court of Chi\u0219in\u0103u decided that the Moldovan businessman Veaceslav Platon stays under preventive arrest.<\/p>\n

One of his lawyers, Eduard Rudenco, declared that the Court refused the hearing of two witnesses, because the hearing wasn’t requested in the first session at the previous court. Reportedly, Platon wanted the hearing of his wife and the penal investigator who was searching him. <\/p>\n

According to another lawyer Ana Ursachi, quoted by ZdG.md<\/a>, Platon would have accused the first Vice-President of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc, of being the final beneficiary of the banking frauds from 2014. The businessman would have blamed the President of the Parliament Andrian Candu for signing contracts to facilitate the transfers to off-shores and the then-Governor of the National Bank Dorin Dr\u0103gu\u021banu for facilitating the flow of money to the defrauded banks, but also the ex-PMs Iurie Leanc\u0103 and Chiril Gaburici for giving state reserves for covering the debt.
\nMoreover, Platon would have declared that he was brought to Moldova with “a private, luxurious jet with 12 seats”. <\/p>\n

Ilya Novikov, former Nadya Savchenko’s and now Platon’s lawyer, participated at the court session and then, declared he is going to clarify the details regarding his “illegal extradition”. Novikov will be defending Platon solely on the case of extradition by the secret services of Ukraine to the prosecutors of Moldova.<\/p>\n

Veaceslav Platon<\/a>, considered by Moldovan law enforcement to be a mastermind of financial crime, is accused of benefiting from non-performant loans from the former Banca de Economii in value of 800 million lei: 130 million lei, 12 million USD and 5 million euros.
