On August 25th, the Prime-Minister of Romania, Dacian Ciolo\u0219, along with several Ministers of his Government, visited the Republic of Moldova to “show support and encouragement for reforms”. <\/p>\n

Ciolo\u0219 met the Moldova Prime-Minister Pavel Filip and the Moldovan Government in a joint session, where the discussion were focused on the progress on reforms, the energetic connection, the investment environment and the use of the grant of 7,5 million euros and the 150 million euros loan given by Romania. Filip thanked the Romanian Government for sending the first part of the loan- 60 million euros, and assured that the money would be used for social funds and investments.
\nIn his turn, Ciolo\u0219 expressed his hope that the reforms will be continued furthermore in accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU and informed that the second part of the loan would be sent only after an official agreement between Moldovan Government and the International Monetary Fund. Asked if he worries about the money given by Romania to the Filip’s Government, the Romanian PM declared that now the Moldovan Government is the least interested “in stealing its own hat” in a situation of crisis, stressing the need to satisfy the citizens. Moreover, Ciolo\u0219 gave assurances that some Romanian ventures, including a Romanian bank, have plans to enter Moldova’s market and promised to help founding a Fund for crediting the SMEs from Moldova.
\nWhat concerns the energetic connections, he and Filip remarked the agreements regarding the Ia\u0219i-Chi\u0219in\u0103u gas pipeline and the Transelectrica’s plans of electrical interconnection. <\/p>\n

“Surely Romania wants to continue to be the main advocate of the European orientation for the Republic of Moldova, thus we continue to be an active partner in mobilizing other European capitals to maintain the project of Moldova’s attachment to the EU in the European agenda. Surely, it will depend on how the citizens of the Republic of Moldova decide to approach things, and the results of the upcoming Presidential elections will show a signal of where Moldova wants to go to.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, Romania remains a pragmatic partner, oriented towards action and results, so that the development of Moldova is visible and felt by all the citizens of Moldova, because Romania wants to support Moldova’s development without any partisanship. We support the reforms and we support this engagement for Democratic and European values. It is, I believe, the best way to prove our brotherly attachment to the Republic of Moldova”, stated Ciolo\u0219.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ciolo\u0219 also declared that he and his Government encourage the 5+2 negotiations in the Transnistrian settlement and think that the Moldovan Government would find pragmatical solutions for the stability of the region.

The Romanian Prime-Minister also met the President of the Moldovan Parliament, Andrian Candu, and the representatives of the ruling coalition. Again, the Moldovan deputies expressed their engagement for reforms and thanked Romania for its kind, financial and moral support.

Romanian PM had a talk with the acting President Nicolae Timofti, who described Romania as “Moldova’s best friend” and appreciated the financial support and the joint projects regarding education and local administration conducted.

\nOut of opposition, Ciolo\u0219 talked to the deputies Iurie Leanc\u0103, Socialist Zinaida Grecean\u00e2i and Liberal-Democrat Viorel Ciubotaru, and to the Parliament outsiders, Maia Sandu and Andrei N\u0103stase.
\n
