On August 15th, several non-governmental organizations handed the Delegation of the European Union a written demand to initiate an international investigation of the banking frauds of Moldova.<\/p>\n

The representatives of the civil society declared that they don’t have any trust in the investigative institutions of Moldova. The motivation for the EU to initiate an investigation would be the fact that citizens of the EU countries and the US participated in the banking frauds<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The message of the NGOs states that the theft of one billion US dollars from the Banca de Economii, Unibank, Banca Social\u0103 caused their collapse, caused the depreciation of the national currency and damaged the financial flow, all under the monitoring of the Moldovan National Bank. <\/p>\n

“There is no such case for the theft of the billion. There are separate cases that simulate the searching for the guilty ones”, declared the former deputy Valentin Dolganiuc.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The representative of the EU Delegation, Wicher Slagter, said that the institution would analyze the demand and would take a decision. <\/p>\n

The paper was signed by the Association for Participative Democracy ADEPT, Association of the Independent Press, Resource Center DIALOG-Pro, Center for Juridical Resources from Moldova, Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova, National Confederation of the Patronate, IDIS Viitorul, Institute of Public Policy, Transparency International-Moldova and other organizations. <\/p>\n
