GirlsGoIT<\/a> 2016 Summer Camp took place between 23 and 31 July. During 9 days, 39 girls aged between 16 and 20 from 10 regions of Moldova (Chi\u0219in\u0103u, Str\u0103\u0219eni, C\u0103l\u0103ra\u0219i, Ungheni, Rezina, Orhei, S\u0103lcu\u021ba, \u0218tefan Vod\u0103, UTA G\u0103g\u0103uzia and H\u00eence\u0219ti) had the opportunity to learn about web development, human rights for internet users and network neutrality, teamwork and aspects related to the continuity of the program and community mobilization. <\/p>\n

The summer camp agenda was structured in trainings on web languages by teaching HTML & CSS, Bootstrap and Django. As a result, participants were able to code their web application of the school they study.

During the summer camp, the participants visited Endava and experienced how the giant IT company works in Moldova. They met women role models who transferred their knowledge and experience as a member of family of the IT giant. One of the key aspects of the visit was the internship experience which Endava highlighted and mentioned that girls have the opportunity to apply for.\"Endava\"<\/p>\n

Council of Europe expert, Dr. Joanna Kulesza, facilitated a session on Human rights for internet users and network neutrality to the program participants. Understanding our rights to communicate freely online and how internet service providers and policy makers should provide safer internet and treat data equally.

Considering the long term goal of the program, which is to empower girls and women through ICT, the participants have worked on the future plans of the local chapters, in the 10 regions represented at the camp, and on project ideas which will be implemented locally to multiply the impact of the program.<\/p>\n

Victoria Etcu, one of the participants of the Summer Camp from C\u0103l\u0103ra\u0219i expressed her satisfaction and enthusiasm on the program:<\/p>\n

The summer camp is one of the most interesting and useful project organized annually under GirlsGoIT program umbrella. Apart from the intense learning, there is space for fun and networking. Also, the trainers team is a special one, because not only they discover the enthusiasm for IT in us, but they also encourage us to go back to our communities and promote IT to other girls.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
