The airlines that manage routes to and from the Republic of Moldova would have to send the lists of passengers to the Moldovan Service of Information and Security, in order to check for individuals involved in terrorist activities.
\nThis condition was included in a Government draft law<\/a> regarding the prevention and the fight of the terrorism. <\/p>\n

The lists would have to be presented to the security service after the boarding, but before the plane takes off. <\/p>\n

An Operational Antiterrorist Commandment and a Territorial Antiterrorist Council would be created in order to conduct antiterrorist activities. <\/p>\n

The Security Service of Moldova motivated the necessity of this law with the increasing threat of terrorism. <\/p>\n

“The terrorist organization ISIL made concrete obejctives, geographically speaking. The map of the future<\/a> “Islamic State Caliphate” includes territories that the group intends to annex in the following 5 years, including that of the Republic of Moldova. Even if Moldova is far from the conflict areas, it experienced the consequences of terrorism, not in terms of victims, but as an area of transit and refuge for potential or active terrorist”, reads the press-realease of the Service.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The draft law would be sent for examination to the Moldovan Parliament in the autumn session, in September. <\/p>\n

A recent draft law<\/a> proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs was stipulating that emails, messages and personal data would be checked by the investigation bodies without any mandate from judges. The so-called “Big Brother” law raised protests among Moldovan internet users and was rejected by the representatives of the civil society.
