On July 28th, the Court of Pechersk district of Kyiv accepted the demand of the prosecutors and issued a 40-days arrest mandate for the Moldovan businessman Veaceslav Platon. Platon has another arrest warrant issued<\/a> by the General Prosecution Office of Moldova for allegations of banking frauds and money laundering. <\/p>\n

The Ukrainian prosecutors wanted to prolong the preventive arrest of 60 hours in order to have time to receive the documents of extradition from the Moldovan prosecutors. <\/p>\n

According to Platon’s lawyer, Denis Shkiptan, there are several violations in his client’s arrest and prosecution. For example, Moldova’s counselor Oleg H\u00eencu “enters the court and listens to instructions from his phone” or “the documents of the accusation are edited and faked with a simple pen”. Moreover, Shkiptan says Platon fainted at the court and had bruises after. <\/p>\n

Veaceslav Platon was arrested on July 25th by the secret services<\/a> of Ukraine in Kyiv. The policemen found a false Ukrainian passport held by Platon with the name Kobalev Veaceslav, born in C\u0103u\u0219eni, Moldova.
