On July 4th, the National Bank of Moldova adopted a decision<\/a> by unanimous vote to adjust the short-term monetary policy. <\/p>\n

Thus, the central regulator of the monetary policy of Moldova decreased the base rate from 13 to 10% annually, as the interests rates on overnight loans were decreased from 16 to 13%, while the rates on deposits were diminished from 10 to 7%. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the National Bank team decided to maintain the required reserves ratio from financial means attracted in freely convertible currency at 14%, while those attracted in MDL and non-convertible currency are kept at 35%. <\/p>\n

According to the press-release, the annual rate of inflation was 7,9 percent in May 2016, decreasing by 0,4% compared to April<\/a>. Accordingly, the analysis of recent stats shows “the appearance of the downwards trend of the annual inflation rate for the fifth consecutive month, although it is still above the upper limit of the range of +-1,5% points from 5% target”. <\/p>\n

The annual rate of core inflation increased with 0,1% up to 9,8% in May 2016. <\/p>\n

The macroeconomic situation would show positive change in the second quarter of 2016: <\/p>\n

The dynamics of macroeconomic indicators in the first month of the second quarter of 2016 shows positive signals relating to the revival of the economic activity during the reporting period. In April 2016, exports increased by 18.0 percent and imports by 21.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, industrial output recorded an increase of 10.0 percent. The turnover for the retail trade increased by 0.4 percent and the volume of trade in services by 2.1 percent in April 2016 compared to same period of the previous year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
