The European Court for Human Rights recently communicated to the Governments of the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation about the case of the policeman Alexandru Ursu. <\/p>\n

Former district officer from Hagimus village of C\u0103u\u0219eni district, lieutenant Ursu was kidnapped on July 29th 2009 by representatives of the separatist militia of the Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic for allegations of faking documents and fraud, when buying real estate in Transnistria. Between July 2009 and May 2010 Ursu received some 5 allegations and the so-called court of Bender condemned him for 15 years of imprisonment. He was detained between July 2009 and November 2012 in a prison in Hlinaia village, on the separatist part. <\/p>\n

The case raised attention on the behalf of the constitutional authorities only at the end 2010, when the relatives of Ursu with the help of lawyers from human rights NGO Promo-LEX sent a letter to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova. <\/p>\n

On January 9, 2013, the self-established prosecution court from Bender sentenced him to 12.6 years in prison, despite of the fact he was acquitted previous year.
