The political executive committee of the Socialists Party of Moldova recommended Igor Dodon as candidate for the Presidential elections from October 30th<\/a>. Moreover, the committee announced that Parliamentary elections should be organized in the same day of election of the President.<\/p>\n

“The political executive committee of the Socialists’ Party considers that the direct Presidential elections and preliminary Parliamentary elections are the only and the last mean to stop the social genocide, the total economic collapse, the political impotence, and, as a consequence, the disappearance of the Republic of Moldova as a sovereign state. It would happen that there won’t be any chance to reject the attacks of the oligarchs and the unionists”, reads the press-release of the party. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Accordingly, the preparation activities for the electoral campaign would start immediately after the announcement. <\/p>\n

The direct Presidential elections were reintroduced on March 4, after the Constitutional Court of Moldova<\/a> ruled that the changes made in 2001 by the Communists were unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

The mandate of the acting President Nicolae Timofti expired on March 23rd.<\/p>\n

The future head of Moldova will need at least half of the votes. Otherwise, the first two candidates with the most of the votes will compete in the second round of elections. The President will be dismissed only if the Parliament finds a serious crime done the head of the state, and only after the people will vote the dismissal in a national referendum.<\/p>\n

The possible candidates for the Presidency in the next election are: former Education Minister Maia Sandu, leader of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” Andrei N\u0103stase, Socialist leader Igor Dodon, former PM Iurie Leanc\u0103, speaker of the Parliament Andrian Candu and leader of the Democrat Party Marian Lupu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
