The juridical commission of the Moldovan Parliament approved the new members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the main electoral body of Moldova. <\/p>\n

The draft law stipulates that the new members are: Andrei Volentir, Veaceslav Agrigoroae, Rodica Ciubotaru, Vasile Gafton, Sergiu Gurduza, Maxim Lebedinski, Eduard R\u0103ducan and Alina Russu. The author of the draft, Democrat Raisa Apolschii, declared that the appointing of the members will take place in two stages: discussions and the designation. <\/p>\n

The mandate of the current electoral commissioners expired in February 2016, but was prolonged until some local elections take place in May. <\/p>\n

The ninth member of CEC will be appointed by the acting President of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti. <\/p>\n

One of the candidates, Eduard R\u0103ducan, will keep his fresh job of director of the Center for Protection of Personal Data while exercising his mandate in the electoral body.
\nReferring to their political affiliations, Ziarul Na\u021bional<\/a> presents another member, Veaceslav Agrigoroae, who worked as assistant of the Democrat deputy Sergiu S\u00e2rbu and as counselor of the speaker of the Parliament Andrian Candu since August 2014. Accordingly, Maxim Lebedinski worked as lawyer at CEC on the behalf of the Party of Socialists, while Alina Russu worked as a consultant for the Communist caucus during the presidency of Voronin and now works as chief of the cabinet of the caucus.<\/p>\n
