The President of the Moldovan Parliament, Andrian Candu, former head of the National Bank, Dorin Dr\u0103gu\u021banu, and the current one, Sergiu Cioclea, had a joint press-conference in order to start the mandate of the new Governor. <\/p>\n

Candu thanked the former Governor Dr\u0103gu\u021banu for “keeping the economical situation good, while some 15% of Moldova’s GDP was taken out of the country”. Latter, in response, declared that he leaves the position with his soul “satisfied”. It should be said that Governor Dorin Dr\u0103gu\u021banu resigned in September 2015 after the theft of one billion US dollars from three Moldovan banks, which boosted inflation rate and depreciated the national currency LEU.<\/p>\n

In his turn, the new Governor Cioclea thanked the previous head of the central bank for transparency in the process of transferring the cases. Cioclea also emphasized that the National Bank has a group of professionals, with which he will try to work in order to improve the economical situation. Nevertheless, the best highlight of his statement is:<\/p>\n

“As Winston Churchill, I promise you we will have tears, sweat and blood.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In this context, the speaker Candu wished him resistance to face the challenges from the politicians and the Parliament: <\/p>\n

“Have successes, be patient, hard, incorruptible, correct and professional”, said Candu. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sergiu Cioclea<\/a> is 42 years old and has an experience of more than 17 years in the financial-banking sector and specifically worked for BNP Paribas. Cioclea got his master and post-graduate degree at the University Pantheon-Assas from Paris. He speaks Romanian, English, French, Russian and holds three citizenships: Moldova, Romania and France.
\nCioclea was assigned<\/a> as the new Governor of the National Bank of Moldova. Cioclea was voted by 61 out of 101 members of the Parliament.<\/p>\n
