On March 31st, the Parliament voted the Declaration regarding the inviolability of soveregnity, independence and permanent neutrality of the Republic of Moldova. The declaration was voted by 62 deputies: Communists, Socialists, Democrats and the MPs that left the Communist caucus. <\/p>\n

The draft of the declaration was proposed last week by the Communists MPs and led to intense debates in the Moldovan Parliament. Then, the decision wasn’t voted due to the lack of quorum. <\/p>\n

The given Declaration reads that the Parliament will need “to confirm the devotion to the Constitutional principle that stipulates Republic of Moldova is a sovereign, independent, unitary and indivisible state, to reiterate the status of permanent neutrality and to make all the efforts to maintain and consolidate the state of Moldova”. <\/p>\n

Moreover, the document reads that “the Parliament assumes, in appropriate limits, the obligation to modify the legislation of Moldova in regard to preventing the attacks on the constitutional principles of independence and neutrality, including by roughening the punishments for this kind of actions”. <\/p>\n

In this context, the leader of the Socialists, Igor Dodon, declared after the session that this declaration would increase the possibility of banning the Unionist organizations, referring to the article 41 from the Constitution. What Dodon didn’t say was that the Russian troops from Transnistria, a territory of Moldova, are a real threat to the integrity, sovereignty and independence of the Republic. <\/p>\n

Even the Governmental “Pro-European” Democrat caucus voted for the Declaration claiming that the law is written in a neutral language. <\/p>\n

“It is an important topic for Moldova. The Government is obliged to take measures to consolidate the state. The Parliament can send a clear message to the people to support this text”, stated the honorable president of the Democrat Party, Dumitru Diacov. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Liberals and the Liberal-Democrats disagreed with the Declaration last week, claiming that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution stipulate the same conditions and that there is a need for another declaration: for calling the retreat of Russian troops from the territory of Moldova.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
