Nine candidates applied for the position of the Governor<\/a> of the National Bank of Moldova, the main economical regulating institution of the country. The deadline for applying was February 22nd. <\/p>\n

These are the nine candidates:
\n1. Victor Timotin- from 2013 is the Capital Markets and Relations with the Investors chief and the member of the Committee for Finances of the Administration Council of Orient Express Bank in Russia.
\n2. Valeriu Chi\u021ban- former Minister and Vice-Minister of Finances in 1994-1998. From 2011 a member of the Court of Accounts.
\n3. Roman Cern\u00ee\u0219ev- citizen of both Moldova and state of Israel. Manager of Niki R. Investments and director of the council ISIP, Israel.
\n4. Vadim Br\u00eenzan- founder and main partner at LOGOS ADVISORS LLC, an investment company, USA.
\n5. Sergiu Cioclea- manager, head of the Department for Corporate Finances, BNP PARIBAS ZAO, Moscow.
\n6. Serghei Melnik- president of Wolf Blitz corporation, consultance company.
\n7. Gheorghe Dimitrov- manager in business relations within UniCredit Poland.
\n8. Sergiu Iachim- consultant in agricultural loans, Luxemburg.
\n9. Vladimir Munteanu- consultant in monetary policy, Sudan.<\/p>\n

After the Governor of Moldova National Bank, Dorin Dr\u0103gu\u021banu, resigned in September 2015, the majority in the Parliament has been prolonging the period of assigning a new Governor. On February 12, the speaker of the Parliament, Andrian Candu, finally announced the public contest for this position. <\/p>\n

The crisis in the banking system caused by the theft of one billion US dollars from three Moldovan banks and the 13,4% inflation rate in 2015<\/a> was the last drop for the civil society in tolerating the former Governor, Dorin Dr\u0103gu\u021banu, who was supposed to regulate all the illegal operations made until the end of 2014.<\/p>\n
