The General Inspectorate of Police of Moldova announced that the blocking of several streets and entrances of Chi\u0219in\u0103u by protesters<\/a> without notifying the authorities can be punished according to some articles from the Contraventional and Penal Code.<\/p>\n

According to the police, the protesters are guilty of violating the legislation regarding the public meetings, the intentional blocking of the streets and the main route through different means or obstacles. <\/p>\n

The accused persons are risking fees from 600 to 2000 lei or imprisonment for 2 up to 6 years. <\/p>\n

The Inspectorate stated that the protests organized by the Party of Socialists, “Our Party” and the Platform “Dignity and Truth” gathered some 20 000 citizens. Going in a march at 14:00 on Sunday, they blocked the main boulevard \u0218tefan cel Mare, Calea Ie\u0219ilor street, Balcani street, Liviu Deleanu, Alba-Iulia, Ion Creang\u0103 streets. The march blocked the traffic and the activity of some economic agents, report the policemen. <\/p>\n

Moreover, a group of some 350 protesters blocked the way to the city of Str\u0103\u0219eni for 35 minutes and reportedly set a fire in the middle of the road. <\/p>\n

The protesters announced an ultimatum<\/a> yesterday, claiming that they will block other national routes if the authorities don’t accept their demands. <\/p>\n
