The Liberal-Democrat Party (PLDM) and the Party of the Socialists of Moldova participate together in creation of a new law in order to modify the procedure of electing the President of the Republic. Therefore, the Pro-European Liberal-Democrats and the Pro-Russia Socialists want to change the Constitution so that the citizens can elects their President in a direct election.
\nThe information was presented by the leader of the leftists, Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n

I want to inform you that we have the signatures of the PLDM deputies, including Vlad Filat, and together with the Party of the Socialists, are willing to propose the initiative of changing the Constitution for the direct election of the President”, stated Dodon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Lately, the Liberal-Democrats announced that they too want to reform the 78th article from the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, November 1st, the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” started<\/a> the campaign to collect more than 300 000 signatures to ask for national referendum for the same Constitutional reform.
\nUntil now, the election of the President of Moldova was done by at least 61 out of 101 (three fifths) members of the Parliament, according to the 78th article of the Constitution.
\nThis type of election proved its bad part between 2009 and 2012, when Moldova had no President for almost 3 years because of lack of substantial majority by the Pro-Europeans and the disagreements with the Communists.<\/p>\n

Right now, the elected President Nicolae Timofti, who was largely criticized for being inactive and ineffective towards the political class, runs out of his mandate (end: March 2016). Therefore, another political crisis is coming in Moldova, taking in account that the Pro-European parties (Liberal-Democrats, Democrats, Liberals) almost totally lost people\u2019s trust and the Pro-Russians are rising from the dead through new suspicious activists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
