On Sunday, October 18th, the District Court of Buiucani from Chisinau decided to accept the demand of the Anti-Corruption Center to keep in arrest the former Prime-Minister of Moldova, Liberal-Democrat Vlad Filat.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the arrest will be prolonged with 30 more days for further investigation of the case and proper prosecution, as the officers say. The decision was seriously contested by the members and the supporters of the Liberal-Democrat Party, who protested outside the building of the Court. On the other side, a group of people protested at the same time for the proper prosecution of Filat.<\/p>\n

Filat himself wasn’t present at the meeting, but his lawyer declared that he will write a complaint against Ilan Shor, the businessman that told the prosecutors about the affairs with the politician, affairs that later caused the hole in three Moldovan banks.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Liberal-Democrat Party addressed to the Constitutional Court to cancel the arrest and the lifting of the Parliamentarian protection of Filat, which occurred illegally. According to them, lifting the protection of a MP and sending directly to prosecution contradicts the laws of the Parliament.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the prosecutors, led by Adriana Betisor, confiscated five cars belonging to Filat: a Porsche Macan, two Volkswagen Tuareg, a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Mercedes S Class.<\/p>\n
