After the Mission of the International Monetary Fund led by Ivanna Vladkova-Hollar presented the results of the visit on Tuesday, October 6th , Prime-Minister Valeriu Strelet requested a new IMF mission in November. Strelet insisted on signing the Cooperation Memorandum to maintain economic stability in the conditions of harsh crisis:<\/p>\n

The partnership with the International Monetary Fund is a precondition for the macroeconomic stability of the Republic of Moldova and the development of the relations with the external partners”, stated the PM.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The representatives of the IMF confirmed their availability to come back only if Moldovan Government will have progresses in the relevant domains. The Mission stressed on two key action-lacking sectors:<\/p>\n

1. Energy sector: Finishing the audit and applying the real tariffs for the good functioning of this domain. Besides this, social measures need to be applied to help the people with special financial situations.
\n2. Banking sector: Advancement of the liquidation of the three problematic banks, further investigation of the one billion theft (not necessary, according to the PM). The IMF specified that Moldova should give more independence to the National Bank, the central financial regulator.
\nThese measures should be taken and implemented until the end of October, so that in November a Mission can be invited and an agreement can be signed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
