The anti-governmental protest<\/a>, which took place on Sunday September 6th in Chisinau, had a great echo in international media. Even the Russian press, always unfriendly to all what happens in Moldova, stressed that the protests are organised upon people’s desire.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the portal Russkaya Vesna, one of the most extremist sites from Russia, called the protest “unauthorized\u00a0Maidan from Chisinau<\/a>“, like the Ukrainian protesting movement from 2013-2014.<\/p>\n

“The protesters speak out against corruption and say that they are not going home until the authorities announce the resignation<\/strong>“, Russkaya Vesna reports.<\/p>\n

Lenta.RU, referring to Interfax<\/a>, reports that the organizers claimed there were 100 000<\/a> people at the meeting, while the police announced about 20-25 thousands of protesters.<\/p>\n

Lenta paid more attention to the Pro-Russian protesters of the Red Block, who had clashes with police<\/a> at the General Prosecution Office and tried to install an unauthorized<\/a> tent camp.<\/p>\n

Russia Today<\/a> covered fully the event and used the headline “Today everything changes<\/strong>“, a common phrase used by people to express their hope for changes.<\/p>\n

TV Rain<\/a>, a Russian media agency related to opposition, stressed the fact that “the hand of Russia is not involved<\/strong>“, referring to Vladimir Soloviov, a Moldovan Russian-speaking journalist at Newsmaker.md and Kommersant.ru.<\/p>\n

Radio Free Europe<\/a> reported the event briefly and attached a gallery of photos from the protest, mentioning that the Prime-Minister Strelet “made an appearance in front of the government building and said he would consider the demands made by protest leaders<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

Euronews<\/a>\u00a0referred to the protesters as strongly disappointed by the Government and the actual political class.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven the return of the stolen money will not satisfy citizens. The authorities should be changed. The acting authorities should be dismissed and snap elections should be organised,\u201d\u00a0said one protester, asked by Euronews.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to live in Europe and bring up our children in a normal way. We want the bandits and theives out and live in a civilised country”, said one woman at the march.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Guardian<\/a>‘s article puts the problem of the lost billion dollars from three Moldovan banks as the cause of people protesting against the mafia Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t it the quality of the captive state, ridden with widespread corruption, that\u2019s preventing the current government from applying for EU membership, as they promised during their recent electoral campaign?<\/strong>\u201d civic platform Dignity and Justice, which called Sunday\u2019s demonstrations, said in an appeal for support.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
