Today, August 27th, the Republic of Moldova is celebrating the Day of Independence from the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n

On this same day in 1991, the Parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence, decision adopted to prevent Russia’s new imperialist expansion.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the formation of young Moldova was followed by the conflicts from 1992 from Gagauzia and especially Transnistria, populated mainly by Russian-speaking people, loyal to Kremlin’s politics. These conflicts are still frozen and are a real challenge for the independence of Moldova.<\/p>\n

The independence of Moldova humbled a lot during different governments, because the politicians were supported by external forces like Russia or they were using the power and the outside aid to empower themselves. The oligarchic system grew up consistently in the 90s, consolidated itself in 00s and now extends its power over the entire economic and social life in Moldova.<\/p>\n

Even if Romania always offered the opportunity of a Reunion, Moldova, as a state, and especially Moldovan politicians, insisted on being a so-called “independent” entity.<\/p>\n

So, Moldova and its citizens remain to be proud and conscious, if not stubborn, of its independence.<\/p>\n
