Nicolae Timofti and Klaus Iohannis gave speeches agave speeches after the former was granted the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University “Stefan cel Mare” in Suceava.<\/p>\n

Nicolae Timofti mentioned that the Moldovan-Romanian relations are the closest they’ve ever been, “contrary to the borders forcefully drawn over our common past”.<\/p>\n

“Moldova’s luck is that it has a Romania nearby. History will judge those who hit their brothers. Unfortunately, there still are opinion leaders controlled from abroad who keep alive the profoundly false idea that the Moldovans on both sides of Prut could be anything else than Romanians”, said Timofti. “Romania offers us the most precious aid on our European way. […] Moldova’s route toward Europe goes through Romania. The border will be just a formality.”, he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In turn, Klaus Iohannis reviewed the latest developments in the relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n

“Romania will continue to invest in the young people from Moldova. Romania already allocates 5000 annual scholarships for students from Moldova, and over half of the preschool children benefit from the project financed by Romania”, said Iohannis. “Moldova has a great chance that we never had. It’s called Romania.”, added the Romanian President.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
