Moldovan Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici has met yesterday with Chinese Ambassador Tong Mingtao. The two officials discussed about the development of bilateral economic relations, about the investment climate in Moldova, the assistance offered to Moldova by China, but probably the most interesting topic was the opportunity of opening a Free Economic Zone in Moldova dedicated to Chinese investors. Although the press release of the Government mentions it only briefly, it notes that this is an “idea favored by the Chinese government”.<\/p>\n

The head of the Moldovan Government also thanked the Chinese authorities for their financial assistance and \u201dinternational support\u201d for Moldova. In turn, Tong Mingtao stressed that China appreciated Chisinau’s openness towards deeper and more dynamic relations and said that Moldova is a very important partner for China in Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

They also talked about Moldova’s participation in the Silk Road project. A memorandum in this regard was signed in December 2014 during the meeting of the Moldo-Chinese commission for economic and commercial cooperation in Beijing. The document is meant to establish a strong economic connection between Europe and China by enhancing political dialogue, developing transport infrastructure between the Pacific Ocean and the Baltic Sea and by reducing barriers against trade and investments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
