Until March the 1, Moldovan farmers exported 115 thousand tons of apples in different markets, except the Russian Federation, but no batch or truck with Moldovan fruit has been rebutted by the authorities of phytosanitary control.<\/p>\n

A statement to this effect was made today by the Minister of Agriculture, Ion Sula, at a meeting with farmers in the country. We remind that in July 2014 Russia banned imports of Moldovan fruit because the plant does not meet the phytosanitary conditions.<\/p>\n

“Traditionally, over the years, our main outlet was the Russian Federation where there were concentrated about 93 percent of Moldovan exports of apples. Now our farmers, in addition to other traditional markets began to export to Egypt, Bangladesh, trying to penetrate the Indian market,” the minister mentioned.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the official made it clear that “Neither TIR nor batch have been notified that the plant will not meet the phytosanitary standards or harmlessness”. “We are convinced that our apples are of high quality and\u00a0not only\u00a0can\u00a0they be exported to the Russian market but also to other markets,” Ion Sula stated.<\/p>\n

In this context, Ion Sula acknowledged that only four thousand tons of Moldovan apples had been exported to the EU market, noting though “our farmers cannot penetrate this market overnight”.<\/p>\n

As for the prospect of resuming exports of fruit, canned food and wine to the Russian market, Minister of Agriculture mentioned that the Russia “does not want to communicate and to hear our arguments”.<\/p>\n

“I was in Moscow with the Minister Vasile Bumacov and stood under Rosselhoznadzor’s and the Rosspotebnadzor’s doors to discuss with the Russian authorities. But they do not want to communicate. We sent letters, we called them, but today we do not have, practically, a dialogue with them.” Ion Sula mentioned.<\/p>\n

We remind that currently only 10 economic agents in Moldova have received the permission of Russian Service Rosselhoznadzor to export “in form of an experiment” fruit in the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
