The people of the administrative autonomy of Gagauzia are electing today the bashkan, the leader of the autonomy.<\/p>\n

The main candidates are Irina Vlah, a Pro-Russian candidate supported by the Socialists, Nicolai Dudoglo, the mayor of the capital of the autonomy, not beloved by the citizens for corruption, and Alexandr Stoianoglo, a former attorney and lawyer, who was also the Vice-President of the Moldovan Parliament.<\/p>\n

The polls<\/a>\u00a0show that the elections will be won by Irina Vlah, who was supported by the Socialists’ Party and by several Russian MPs. Vlah’s campaign involved Russian singers like Oleg Gazmanov and the band “Lyube”.<\/p>\n
