The elections of the Bashkan (the leader of the autonomy) of Gagauzia will take place on 22 of March 2015. There are eleven candidates for the leadership of the autonomic region of Moldova, established in 1994.<\/p>\n

According to a poll done by the company Intellect Group, Irina Vlah, would get 57% of the votes, Nicolae Dudoglo- 23% and Valeryi Ianioglo- 8,5%.<\/p>\n

The popularity of Irina Vlah is explained by the support given by the Socialists’ Party, which is the most popular party among the Gagauzyians.<\/p>\n

Thus, 41% of the voters prefer the Socialists’ Party, while only 8% like the Communists’ Party and only 6,3% prefer the Democrat Party. Around 30% of people are not sure about their political preference.<\/p>\n

Regarding the external orientation, 90% of people are for closer relations with Russia, 30% with Turkey and only 5% with the European Union.<\/p>\n

The poll was done between 26 of February and 2 of March in all 27 villages and towns of the Gagauz-Yeri. The data of the poll were collected from 988 persons and has an error of +-3%.<\/p>\n

The autonomic region of Gagauzia was established in 1994 on the basis of the majority of Gagauzyians living there. The Gagauzyians are actually baptised Turkish population that colonized the region during the Russian Empire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
