The chief of the delegation of the European Union, Pirkka Tapiola, was refused on 17 of February\u00a0to enter Transnistria , the separatist region of Moldova, by the illegal customs service. Tapiola was going to Molovata Noua village, the district of Dubasari, where there would have been opened a Center of Public Health Care, built on European funds.<\/p>\n

The President of the Dubasari district, Grigore Policinschi, confirmed the event for Moldova.ORG, but mentioned that he doesn’t know any causes of the interdiction.<\/p>\n

The mayor of Molovata Noua, Valeriu Sandul, said for IPN<\/a> “that the diplomat was unable to come to the event”, but could not say the reasons why Pirkka Tapiola had to go back.<\/p>\n

Even if Molovata Noua, which is located on the left side of the Nistru, is administered by the Moldovan constitutional authorities, one can get to the village either by the ferry or through a Transnistrian checkpoint.<\/p>\n
