Chiril Gaburici is the new candidate for the role of Prime-Minister of Republic of Moldova after the government of Iurie Leanca didn’t receive the trust vote<\/a>\u00a0on 12 of February.<\/p>\n

Chiril Gaburici was proposed by the Liberal Democrat Party of Moldova.<\/p>\n

The statement by which Chiril Gaburici was assigned as the main candidate was signed by the President, Nicolae Timofti, after consulting all the Parliamentary parties.<\/p>\n

“It was a proposal from the leader of PLDM, Vlad Filat, and I have the support from this party”, said Gaburici. Being asked about support from other parties, he said that hopes to receive “the votes of all the Parliamentary parties”, and that he will “collaborate” with all the parties.<\/p>\n

He had the position of manager of the mobile network company Moldcell during 2009 and 2012 and after a case of money-washing, went to Azercell, another part of the TeliaSonera group. During the last months of his mandate, the leadership of the company was supposedly involved in a case of corruption including the Azer government.<\/p>\n

Gaburici is also known (even if he denied) for closing the mobile signal near the Parliament and the President’s Residence during the events from 7 of April 2009, when the Communist government applied violence to calm down the anti-communist protests.<\/p>\n

Gaburici declined the doubts of the Liberal leader, Mihai Ghimpu, about his professional integrity. “I’ll be back with more details”, said Gaburici.<\/p>\n

He declared that even if he wasn’t present in Moldova for some time, he followed all the political events and has some solutions for the current political crisis.<\/p>\n

The new candidate has 15 days since the 14 of February to form a new Government and present the new strategy of governance.
