After the Russian ruble depreciated severely last week, the Moldovan leu went simultaneously down as a currency.<\/p>\n

Mihai Bologan, an alternative expert in economy, wrote an article<\/a> about how the weak ruble affect Moldova. He told that the weak Moldovan leu has nothing to do with the ruble and its depreciation has the following causes:<\/p>\n

-The high price of the petrol on the local market;<\/p>\n

-The achieved profit to the National budget;<\/p>\n

-Monetary speculations done by commercial banks.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Mihai said the Moldovan workers will be the most affected due to the severe depreciation of the ruble. ”Their incomes will decrease dramatically not only because of the weak ruble, but also due to the worsening economic situation from Russia. Thus, a lot of Moldovans will \u00a0need to come back to Moldova. The negative part is that our government will have to deal with high unemployment rate, while the positive part is that they can bring money valuable to the local economy, by:<\/p>\n

1. Consuming local goods and products;<\/p>\n

2. Founding deposits of money;<\/p>\n

3. Doing local business and small entrepreneurship”, says Mihai Bologan.<\/p>\n

”We need to be grateful for the fact that we don’t usually transfer so much money in rubles as we do in euros and US dollars. Our close relations with Western countries are a guarantee of our further stability because the opposite situation would cause total collapse of our economy”, mentioned Mihai.<\/p>\n
