Approximately 899 millions lei have been given as bribes by the simple citizens of Moldova and about 397 millions lei have been given by the Moldovan businessmen during 2014.<\/p>\n

These are the results of a study regarding corruption and conducted by Transparency International Moldova.<\/p>\n

According to the study, the value of the bribes increased by 6% in the case of physical persons, but decreased by 10% in the case of businessmen, comparing to 2012.<\/p>\n

In 2014, the physical persons paid unofficially the most at the medical institutions(377 millions lei), the educational institutions(83,8 millions lei),and to police(72,2 millions lei).<\/p>\n

The businessmen paid mora at the jusdiciary institutions(53,4 millions lei), the customs(50,2 millions lei) and at tax offices(49,4 millions lei).<\/p>\n

The biggest average bribes given by citizens are those given to the persecutors(2780 lei) and to the judges(2120 lei), while the businessmen pay about 8809 lei to judges, 7000 lei to win tenders and around 4000 lei to the lawyers.<\/p>\n

The research was done in partnership with the Centre for Social Investigations and Marketing “CBS-AXA” and had the goal to discover the experiences of the people regarding corruption.<\/p>\n

The study was made based on opinions of 1106 people and 457 units of business. The error values are near 2,9% and 4,4% respectively.<\/p>\n
