Thousands of Romanian citizens residing abroad were not able to cast their vote on Sunday, when Romania organized presidential elections. The Romanian Diaspora queued in front of their embassies and consulates to vote, some waiting up to five hours to be able to do so. The polls were expected to close at 9 PM local time of every country. After 9 PM, those being outside the polling station are no longer allowed to vote.<\/p>\n

Over two hundred people were standing in the queue at the Romanian Embassy in Berlin (Germany) at 4 PM local time. People complained that they had to wait up to three hours to cast their ballot.<\/p>\n

In Munich (Germany), Romanians expressed their anger with the authorities in Bucharest claiming that their right to vote was violated due to the impossibility of some to vote. Their queue branched over a few hundred meters at the noon time. After 9 PM, hundreds were still standing there.<\/p>\n

Romanians in Paris (France), who were also massively present at the polls, said they were told they won\u2019t be able to vote after 9 PM (local time). However, there are reports that the voters have forcefully entered\u00a0the diplomatic mission, insisting to cast their ballots. Embassy staff has called the French police to intervene, Mediafax news agency reported.<\/p>\n

People queued already at 7 AM at the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau (Moldova). Hundreds of voters stood for hours to cast their vote, fearing that they might not be able to do so if they vote later.<\/p>\n

During similar polls a few years ago, hundreds of Romanians from Moldova could not cast their vote after polls closed at 9 PM.<\/p>\n

Romanians in London and Birmingham (UK) complained that after queuing for three hours, some were denied to vote, because it was past 9 PM. Policemen had to intervene at the Romanian Consulate in London, Pro TV reported.<\/p>\n

Over two hundred people gathered in front of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest late on Sunday to demand voting extension for Diaspora, reported Mediafax. People are angry that their fellow citizens from abroad were not able to enjoy the same rights as those back home, calling on resignation of their Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n
