”Beginning from 2009, when the government changed, Moldova’s foreign policy didn’t fluctuate between West and East. Moreover, Moldova has the intention to apply for membership of European Union in 2015”.<\/p>\n

This statement was made by the Vice Prime-Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Natalia Gherman, at a meeting with the Moldavian diaspora at New York and at New Jersey. The meeting was in the context of the 69th General Assembly of United Nations.<\/p>\n

According to the Radio Free Europe<\/a>, when asked why Republic of Moldova is still a part of the Community of Independent States(former Soviet states), the Minister declared that Moldova is a participant only in the economic and humanitarian departments of this organization and its involvement in political and security departments is zero.<\/p>\n

Natalia Gherman also stated that Moldova is,\u00a0considering the situation in Ukraine, vulnerable against Russia because of its status of neutrality, regulated by Constitution. This status may be changed only through a national referendum.<\/p>\n

The Minister mentioned that the Moldavian Government predicted some consequences of the Association Agreement in the relations with Russia, but it didn’t expect severe sanctions, such as a total embargo on Moldavian food products.<\/p>\n

As a response to the economic reality, there are being put diplomatic efforts to find new markets for Moldavian products such as India and the Middle East countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
