The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations will offer $400000 for a project of improving the food safety domain in Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n

The project will be implemented during 2014 and 2015 and has as the main goal to adjust the national legislation and the food production standards at international levels.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made by the Moldovan Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vasile Bumacov.<\/p>\n

”The beneficiary of this project will be the National Agency of Food Safety. When we will manage to make this institution correspond to all the European requirements, our products will have a better chance to get in Europe’s markets”, said Bumacov.<\/p>\n

The manager of the Agency, Ion Sula, confirmed that this financial aid will be focused on monitoring the food safety. ”It is important that all the customers, both local and those from foreign markets, must know where the product was made, how it was transported and how it was stored”, pointed Ion Sula.<\/p>\n

Eleanor Dupouy, specialist in Food Safety and Customer Protection from the Regional Bureau FAO for Europe and Central Asia, explained that this support is to ”improve the capacity of analyzing the risks, preventing them and communicating them to customers and economic entities”.<\/p>\n
