Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Secretaries of State from 28 member states of European Union (EU) have participated at the 9th session of Group for European Action of the Republic of Moldova (GERAM), that was held in Chi\u0219in\u0103u on Monday, September 1st.<\/p>\n

The main topics were the European agenda of Moldova, especially the implementation of The Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area and the identification of opportunities for supporting the Moldovan farmers to sell their products in the Community market. Also, there have been talks about the whole situation in region.<\/p>\n

“This reunion is about our vision and our most important national project – European future,” Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanc\u0103 said. “This courageous vision deserves to be discussed next year at the East Partnership Summit in Riga. Our desire pushes forward our program of European integration, helps us to mobilize our resources and stimulates people`s confidence in their future.”<\/p>\n

Premier Leanca mentioned that the implementation of the Association Agreement, especially the part of the Free Trade, will integrate the Republic of Moldova in EU`s market and will consolidate the political relations between the last two. <\/p>\n

“I think that your visit and your obvious support will help us to accelerate the reforms and to pass the current challenges. We proved to the citizens through concrete actions that European Union is a credible choice and it will give several benefits,\u201d concluded Iurie Leanc\u0103.<\/p>\n

Also, Foreign Minister of Italy, Federica Mogherini, recently nominated as High Representative of EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, declared: “It is my first visit in a foreign country as an EU official. Today is the day of beginning of a new year for students in Moldova, and in the same day the Agreement Act enters in force. It is an event with double meaning – with good intentions and for a good cause. We will uphold the European future of Moldova.”<\/p>\n

Beside the EU Foreign Ministers and the Secretaries of State, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood, \u0160tefan F\u00fcle, and Luis Felipe Fernandez de la Pena, Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia of European External Action Service, have participated at the GEARM reunion.<\/p>\n

The reunion of Group for European Action of the Republic of Moldova is a political mechanism, launched in January 2010 at the initiatives of Romania and France, to promote the interests and the importance of Republic of Moldova in European Agenda. The first event took place in Chi\u0219in\u0103u, in September 2010.<\/p>\n
