Moldova was invited to participate at the 2014 NATO Summit. The high level event, which is expected to gather international leaders, will take place in Wales, UK on September 4-5.<\/p>\n

The Summit will be attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, U.S. President Barack Obama, and other leaders and senior ministers from around 60 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n

Moldova has obtained the invitation on August 6, along with other 24 partner states. NATO seeks to launch a new cooperation programme with its partners called platform of interoperability.<\/p>\n

According to the head of the Moldovan mission to NATO, Mihai Gribincea the interoperability platform has three dimensions: human, procedural and technical.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are among the countries taking part at this platform because we are contributing to the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo,\u201d Mr. Gribincea said in an interview with RFE\/RL<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the Constitution, Moldova is a neutral state and cannot join any military block, including NATO. The two sides cooperate in the reformation of the institutional bodies and defense structures of Moldova.
