Russian authorities decided to return 17 tons of apricots originating from Moldova. Rosselhoznadzor, Russia\u2019s authority in charge of food quality, said that the products are infected with Grapholitha molesta Busck, which is considered a very dangerous organism.<\/p>\n

The fruits have been barred from entering Russia on Wednesday, July 9th.<\/p>\n

On July 5th, Russia blocked processed meat produced in Moldova, citing health risks, too. However, the European Union believes the move is politically motivated and has nothing to do with the quality of the products.<\/p>\n

The decisions come after Moldova signed and ratified an Association Agreement with the European Union a few days ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EU regrets the decision by the Russian authorities to ban a number of Moldovan meat exports on what is, coincidentally, the same day that the Moldovan Parliament ratified the EU-Moldova pact,\u201d said John Clancy, spokesperson of the EU trade chief Karel De Gucht.<\/p>\n
