The European Union\u2019s Cooperation Council has endorsed on Thursday an Association Agenda with Moldova. The move comes one day ahead of the signing of the Association Agreement.<\/p>\n

The Association Agenda presents the priorities of the two sides for the period 2014-2016. It focuses on the preparation for the implementation of the Association Agreement, which includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).<\/p>\n

This document replaces the EU-Moldova Neighborhood Policy Action Plan which was initiated in February 2005.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Association Agenda incorporates political elements, including political dialogue, reforms to strengthen democratic institutions, the rule of law, independence of the judiciary, respect for human rights, cooperation on foreign and security policy as well as peaceful conflict resolution, and cooperation on Justice, Freedom, and Security. The Association Agenda also incorporates economic and trade elements, including a dedicated DCFTA chapter and cooperate on in a number of sectors such as energy, transport, employment and social policy,\u201d a press release reads.<\/p>\n

The same Agenda stresses the need to continue the cooperation with Transnistria, so that the region could also benefit from the Moldova-EU enhanced trade relations.<\/p>\n

The Cooperation Council \u201eacknowledges the importance of reaching out to the population, the business community and the de-facto authorities of the region. It reiterates its commitment to such dialogue in order to make the advantageous reciprocal trade regime of the Association Agreement applicable on the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova in full respect of international law.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
