The European Union stands ready to facilitate an agreement between Chisinau and Tiraspol (so-called capital of Transnistrian region), to ensure that enterprises based here can also benefit from the provisions of the Association Agreement.<\/p>\n

Self-appointed authorities of Transnistria do not plan to implement the Association Agreement yet, which will be signed by Moldova on June 27. Both EU and Chisinau-based authorities said that Transnistrian representatives have always been invited to the negotiation table when the two sides have agreed upon each paragraph of the accord.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is concrete language about territorial integrity in the Association Agreement. What is quite exceptional is that the DCFTA part of the Agreement has been made available separately for application to the Transnistrian region as well,\u201d Peter Stano, spokesperson of \u0160tefan F\u00fcle, EU Commissioner in charge of Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, told Moldova.ORG on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe, as the EU, are ready and would be happy to facilitate any reasonable and mutually acceptable arrangement between Chisinau and Tiraspol that could allow Transnistria-based businesses to benefit from the substantial trade benefits that can be derived from the Agreement, including in terms of investment and economic modernization.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
