Party of Socialists in Moldova protested on Friday against the Association Agreement. The country is set to sign the deal with the European Union (EU) on June 27.<\/p>\n

The Socialists seek ties with Russia and want Moldova to join the Russian-led Customs Union. The head of the Party, Igor Dodon, said that the Association Agreement will have negative effects on Moldovan economy and its social realm, and will loosen the country\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government has neither moral, nor juridical right to sign such an agreement with the EU,\u201d Mr. Dodon said.<\/p>\n

He seeks a nationwide referendum that would call people to choose whether the country should go East or West.<\/p>\n

Igor Dodon claims that his party has collected over 800,000 signatures which support the country\u2019s orientation towards East.<\/p>\n
