Germany is committed to help the Republic of Moldova to successfully apply the provisions of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The accords are set to be signed on June 27 in Brussels.<\/p>\n

German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd M\u00fcller said on Thursday that Moldova is a European country and therefore, his government wants to help \u201cto modernize\u201d it.<\/p>\n

According to him, the German Federal Government has already given green light for the signature and implementation of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU.<\/p>\n

Mr. M\u00fcller signed a cooperation agreement with Premier Iurie Leanca that envisages a higher technical and financial assistance for Moldova. The aid is meant to be used for potable water projects, treatment of residual water in rural areas, modernization of local public services and others.<\/p>\n

The assistance is worth \u20ac14.3 million.<\/p>\n

“Moldova is currently engaged in an important process of transformation. The success of these efforts will determine the country’s further alignment with the European Union,” Minister M\u00fcller said. “The German government is supporting the country’s reform efforts through development cooperation, helping Moldova to find its place in Europe.”<\/p>\n

Iurie Leanca and Gerd M\u00fcller have opened the EU-Moldova Forum on Thursday. The event takes place in Moldova\u2019s third largest city of Balti.<\/p>\n

According to a press release, the German Minister will also visit the premises of GIZ’s new office in Chisinau.<\/p>\n
