The Council of the European Union has decided to offer provisional application of the Association Agreement\u2019s free trade provisions with both Moldova and Georgia. The decision will allow the EU to lift customs duties for imports and exports to and from these countries ahead of the ratification by all EU member states.<\/p>\n

The accord will be implemented starting from October 1 and will cover about 80% of its provisions.<\/p>\n

This comes amid completion of all technical preparations for the signature of the Association Agreement which will be signed in Brussels on June 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese accords aim to deepen the political association and economic integration with the EU and will also lead to a deep and comprehensive free trade area with both partners,\u201d the Council of the EU said in a press release on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to it, all 28 EU member states have already adopted the legal documents which allow the EU to sign the accord with Moldova and Georgia.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Council is set to submit legal texts on the finalization of both deals to the European Parliament. The latter is expected to allow formal ratification of the agreements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
