Trafficking in human beings is a widespread phenomenon in the Republic of Moldova. According to a U.S. State Department report<\/a>, Moldova is a source country for men, women and children subjected to sex trafficking. The victims are trafficked both within the country and abroad, in states like Turkey, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Greece, Lebanon, Italy, Spain, and the \u201cTurkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Organized Crime and Corruption Report Project (OCCRP<\/a>) traveled to Moldova to talk with Viorica Ursu, who is a convicted human trafficker.<\/p>\n
