Chisinau International Airport (KIV<\/a>) has lowered its operation costs. Russian \u201cAvia Invest\u201d company, which currently runs the airport, has diminished the costs for one passenger from 28,51 Euro to 11,48 Euro that had to be paid by an airline operating on this airport.<\/p>\n

This regulation applies for all newly launched routes from Chisinau in 2013. The move is intended to attract new airlines, so that the passenger number can increase.<\/p>\n

According to the data, the airport has registered a record high in passenger traffic – 1,321,360. This is an increase by 8.26% compared to 2012. Moreover, the number of landings and take offs increased by 8.91% in 2013 compared to a year before.<\/p>\n

The airport\u2019s statistics show that new airlines successfully started providing their service to and from Moldova. Wizz Air, FlyDubai and Astra Airlines are among the new carriers which emerged in 2013, the airport said in a press release. These airlines created new destinations, such as Dubai, Venice (Treviso) and Rome (Ciampino). Additional flights have been added to Dublin, Sankt Petersburg, Munich, Vienna, Moscow and Italian destinations.<\/p>\n
