Applicants for a Moldovan visa will no longer have to travel to the closest embassy or consulate in order to get it. Moldovan Government announced on Wednesday that the e-Visa system is likely to be launched on May 1, 2014.<\/p>\n

In order for the procedure to go into force, it has to be approved by the Parliament as well. The Moldovan visa will be issued by the Consular Affairs Department of the Foreign Ministry. The visa fee will be the equivalent in Moldovan lei (MDL) of 60 euro.<\/p>\n

E-Visa system is currently under trial version and is applicable only for certain countries.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca has welcomed this decision, adding that it is an international practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am convinced that the e-visa system will overcome any barriers for tourists and potential investors, especially in those countries where we do not have diplomatic missions,\u201d Iurie Leanca said.<\/p>\n

When officially implemented, visa applicants will have to fill in an application form on the website of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. All the necessary papers will have to be uploaded to the application. The visa fees of 60 euro will be paid online via MPay service. After the visa is processed, the competent authorities will inform the applicant whether he was granted a visa or not. The issued visa can be printed and presented together with the passport at the border control.<\/p>\n

\u201cCitizens who will get a green light from the Foreign Ministry can print out their visa to be presented at the checkpoint,\u201d Executive & Public Affairs Consultant from e-Government Center, Victoria Rosca told Moldova.ORG. \u201cHowever, this is not mandatory, given that the information about the application will be automatically stored in the informational system.\u201d<\/p>\n
