High school teachers from Moldova\u2019s breakaway region of Transnistria are upset on the country\u2019s president Nicolae Timofti. \u201cLumina\u201d Association has sent a letter to the Moldovan leadership accusing them of disregard of the daily problems.<\/p>\n

The letter says that President Timofti is indifferent to the teachers from the Transnistrian region following the latest events from Ukraine. It also says that the only thing that the central administration has done for these schools is to increase salaries by 400 lei (21 euro or $30).<\/p>\n

According to the professors, the President\u2019s attitude during the press conference of March 18 \u2013 when he delivered a speech on the situation in the country \u2013 was an inappropriate one, \u201cclosing his eyes\u201d at the problems of eight Latin-script schools from the Transnistrian region.<\/p>\n

The head of \u201cLumina\u201d Association, Eleonora Cercavschi told Moldova.ORG that this is not their first letter addressed to the Moldovan leadership. However, all their calls have been ignored so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho takes care of the teachers and pupils from the Transnistrian region?\u201d she said. \u201cWe are totally ignored; we cannot be calm at night because we have no certainty whether or not we will be able to go to school next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms. Cercavschi added that she was called a short time ago by a representative from the Presidency.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnly after our discontent was published in the press, they came up with the proposal to organize a meeting with us on Tuesday or Thursday next week,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
