According to him, Russia could resort to use of military intervention in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRussian Federation is the only state that defies the sovereignty, territorial integrity and neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova,\u201d Oazu Nantoi told Moldova.ORG. \u201cRussian troops stationed on the left bank of the Nistru River can receive orders and intervene without leaving for Odessa if they will generate mass disorders and ask Putin for help, or they could come to Chisinau to take control over the territory of the Republic of Moldova.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ex-defense minister, Ion Costas said that a considerable number of Cossacks, who support their colleagues in Odessa, station in Transnistria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why, Ukraine will better secure its border with Moldova,\u201d Mr. Costas said. \u201cTroops from Transnistria could arrive in Odessa any time to back the pro-Moscow forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A similar opinion is shared by political expert Anatol Taranu who said that there is information about the presence of Special Forces that have been deployed in Transnistria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey use this operational base to fight against Ukraine, if needed,\u201d Mr. Taranu said. \u201cThere is an obvious danger for Moldova as well, the Ukrainian turmoil severely affecting the security of the Republic of Moldova. \u201cUnfortunately, we have too little opportunities to counter these risks and the only possibility is to draw attention of public opinion and international community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Russian President\u2019s envoy for Transnistria Dmitry Rogozin said that his country \u201cwill never forget that it is the guarantor of constitutional laws of its citizens\u201d residing in Transnistria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span>Amid strong support of the separatist administration of Transnistria by the Russian Federation, Ukraine has initiated an operation of consolidation of its border with Moldova on the portion uncontrolled by the legitimate authorities of Chisinau.
