This is Moldova\u2019s first deployment to a NATO-led mission, with UN mandate.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Kosovo-2.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-379869\" alt=\"Kosovo-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Kosovo-2-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Kosovo peacekeeping mission, which operates in accordance with Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, is a faithfulness test of Moldova with regard to its international commitments,\u201d President of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti said.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Minister of Defense Igor Panfile said that his state is grateful to its partner countries for the contribution to modernize the National Army of Moldova and aligning it to the professional armies list.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am grateful to the government of Italy and the United States for the logistical support given to the troops on duty,\u201d Mr. Panfile said.<\/p>\n<p>The contingent departed from Chisinau with a Lockheed C-130 Hercules military aircraft.
