Foreigners willing to travel to Moldova will be able to apply for a visa online. The new service, called e-Visa will be launched during the second quarter of 2014.<\/p>\n

According to Victoria Rosca, Executive & Public Affairs Consultant from e-Government Center, the e-Visa service is currently under trial version. Therefore, some visa applicants can already get their visa online, without visiting a Moldovan diplomatic mission.<\/p>\n

When officially implemented, visa applicants will have to fill in an application form on the website of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. All the necessary papers will have to be uploaded to the application. The visa fees will be paid online via MPay service. After the visa is processed, the competent authorities will inform the applicant whether he was granted a visa or not. The issued visa can be printed and presented together with the passport at the border control.<\/p>\n

\u201cCitizens who will get a green light from the Foreign Ministry can print out their visa to be presented at the checkpoint,\u201d Victoria Rosca told Moldova.ORG. \u201cHowever, this is not mandatory, given that the information about the application will be automatically stored in the informational system.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Ms. Rosca, the e-Visa service will be available for citizens of certain states. She said that the main benefit is \u201ca great opening of Moldova towards foreign visitors and border protection through an enhancement of visa-issuing procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n
