OSCE Mission to Moldova has urged the administration of Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia to cooperate with the Central Government based in Chisinau in order to assure that the Gagauz autonomy law is effectively implemented.<\/p>\n

The statements were made during a meeting in Chisinau of a delegation of the Gagauzian People\u2019s Assembly headed by Dmitry Konstatinov with the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Jennifer Brush.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cultural diversity of Moldova is one of its greatest riches, and an effective implementation of the Gagauzian autonomy law will help to keep and embrace this diversity, ensuring that language and minority rights are respected,\u201d Ms. Brush said in a press release issued on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The statements come in the context of an illegal referendum organized in the region a week ago.<\/p>\n

The Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Unit encompasses over 150,000 people, mainly of Turkic origin, located in the southern part of Moldova.<\/p>\n
