Great Britain is Moldova\u2019s 6th export partner, the former Soviet republic exporting softwares, textiles and food products. The statement was made by the British Minister for Europe David Lidington on a two-visit to Chisinau on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Holding talks with Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, the two officials have noticed a positive development of Moldova-UK relations.<\/p>\n

According to a press release, the investment climate from Moldova was a top discussion topic. Moldova called on the British businessmen to invest here, the move being a way of support the country to get closer to the European Union.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Republic of Moldova is a European country and we support its European perspective,\u201d Mr. Lidington said. \u201cThe United Kingdom supports the signing this year of the Association Agreement with the European Union.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moldovan Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman has also discussed with the European official, namely about the bilateral relations and the possibility to obtain a facilitated visa regime with the UK for Moldovan citizens.<\/p>\n

It is to note that, once the European Union will lift visa requirements for Moldova, both Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland will not enforce the regulations, since the two countries are not members of the Schengen zone.<\/p>\n
