On September 23 of this year, at a press conference, the mobile operator Moldcell announced the launch in premiere for Moldova of third-generation mobile services and presented the public offer. <\/p>\n

As of October 1, Moldcell clients, regardless of the package used (Alocard, YOYO, Fantasy or Postpaid), will be able to enjoy and appreciate the advantages offered by the new technology while using three 3.5G services: Video call, Mobile Internet (available on the market from October 1st, 2008) and Mobile TV (to be launch by the end of this year). <\/p>\n

The commercial launch of 3.5G services realized by Moldcell is considered to be one of the fastest in the world – practically in 3 weeks after the license receipt. <\/p>\n

In order to benefit from the services, Moldcell clients need to have: <\/p>\n

1. a Subscription Agreement signed with Moldcell (according to the conditions of the license issued by the NARECIT);
\n2. a Telephone and\/or modem supporting 3.5G standard (available in Moldcell distribution network). <\/p>\n

The Video Call and Mobile Internet services will be activated starting from <\/p>\n

October 1st automatically for all existing Moldcell clients who have signed a Subscription Agreement and hold a handset\/modem supporting the new standard. <\/p>\n

Along with the launch of the third-generation services, Moldcell clients, as well as the entire Moldova, join the modern European informational community. It is worth mentioning that operators from the neighboring countries, having launched the new technology, still are not offering to their clients the most advanced version of the 3G standard (e.g., Orange Romania – 3.6 Mbps; MTS Ukraine – 3.1 Mbps; T-Mobile Hungary – 3.6 Mbps; Mobitel Bulgaria – 3.6 Mbps). <\/p>\n

3G (3G – 386 kbps) — 3G+ (HSDPA -3.6 Mbps) — 3.5G (HSDPA – 7.2 Mbps) <\/p>\n

3,5G coverage will be provided gradually, being available in Chisinau municipality at the moment of launch, and in Balti and Cahul by the end of 2008, which is 8 months earlier than the license obligations. <\/p>\n

The commercial launch of 3.5G services will become memorable for Moldcell customers, since they will be able to benefit during 3 months (from October 1 till December 30, 2008) from a promotional offer . <\/p>\n

The promotional offer – FREE OF CHARGE usage: <\/p>\n

Video call (10 min) + Mobile Internet (100 Mb). <\/p>\n

To select this option, the client should just dial *333# OK. <\/p>\n

The PUBLIC OFFER includes two 3.5G services available as of October 1st to Moldcell clients. <\/p>\n

While elaborating them, the operator pursued several goals: <\/p>\n

* simplicity of service access and usage,
\n* transparent charging,
\n* accessible prices. <\/p>\n

Therefore, 3.5G services from Moldcell have been elaborated to be used by absolutely all who wish to do it, with no need to pass a special technological training, in order to popularize the services and increase the „technologization” level of Moldovan population. <\/p>\n

1. Video Call <\/p>\n

The first video call in Moldova was performed within Moldcell network on June 24, 2008 in a festive atmosphere by the NARECIT Director, Mr. Sergiu Sitnic, and the General Manager of Ericsson Moldova (the former Minister of Telecommunications of the RM), Mr. Ion Casian. <\/p>\n

As of October 1, Moldcell clients will be able to see their interlocutors on mobile screens just for 2 lei per minute. <\/p>\n

2. Mobile Internet <\/p>\n

This service implies data transfer and Internet navigation at a speed of up to 7.2 Mbps, which is 30 times faster than the speeds ensured by EDGE technology and 47 times faster than by means of GPRS! Besides the higher speed and quality, the service offers utmost mobility, since the client needs no more Internet connexion through a fixed line! By means of a USB modem, he can download and transfer data anytime and anywhere, without being attached to the place where his laptop is situated at the moment.<\/p>\n

Subscribers can use the service at the usual tariff of 0.03 lei\/10 kb or can purchase one of the subscriptions, differing by the volume included: <\/p>\n

1) 5 GB – 140 lei, <\/p>\n

2) 10 GB – 240 lei. <\/p>\n

The option providing an unlimited volume during nighttime can be purchased additionally to the subscriptions for the price of 100 lei. <\/p>\n

3. Mobile TV Service <\/p>\n

Being one of the most complex and complicated services, its launch is planned before the end of this year. Mobile TV service will give to Moldcell clients the possibility to watch live on their mobile phones local and international TV channels just for 1.5 lei\/minute. <\/p>\n

Those who want to use 3.5G services from the very beginning, receiving more than the promotional offer gives, will be welcome to choose any of the 2 other monthly subscriptions: <\/p>\n

1). 20 min VideoCall + 200 Mb = 70 lei\/month <\/p>\n

2). 30 min VideoCall + 300 Mb = 100 lei\/month <\/p>\n

After the company demonstrated on June 24 of this year its readiness from the technical point of view to provide 3,5G services, marking the beginning of a new technological era in Moldova, the 1st of October, 2008 can be considered a new stage in digitizing our informational community initiated for Moldcell clients. <\/p>\n
