The decision will be applied as of October 26 when the Winter 2013\/2014 will go into force.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Established in 1997, the Star Alliance network is the leading global airline network, with the highest number of member airlines (28), daily flights, destinations and countries flown to. Among the prominent airlines part of Star Alliance are Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, United, US Airways, Air Canada and others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines are the only carriers of the Start Alliance group that operate flights to Moldova.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During the Summer 2013 program, there were two daily flights operated from Munich and the same number of flights operated from Vienna.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lufthansa&rsquo;s Regional Director for Central Europe, Ofer Kisch told Moldova.ORG that the airline is reducing the number of flights to Moldova for upcoming winter because the demand is low.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;Last summer, we were flying two daily flights from Germany to Chisinau. For the Winter 2013\/14, we were reducing the capacity to one daily flight as the demand in winter is obviously lower than in the high season,&rdquo; Ofer Kisch said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Even thought the Seat Load Factor on their flights to Chisinau is reaching about 80%, Lufthansa has decided to cut down the number of flights to this destination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The same decision was taken by their alliance partner, Austrian Airlines, which was also operating two flights a day to Chisinau.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Austrian Airlines will operate only its afternoon flight which will depart from Vienna at 12:40 and will reach Chisinau at 15:15. On the way back, the aircraft will take off at 15:55 and will land in Vienna at 16:45.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lufthansa gives up its evening flight and the only one remaining will depart from Munich at 9:10 and will arrive in Chisinau at 12:15. On the way back the aircraft will depart at 13:00 and will arrive in the third largest German city at 14:20.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Despite this measure, Chisinau became attractive for other airlines. FlyDubai plan to operate their first flights from Chisinau to Dubai as of November 20.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Romania-based Carpatair has announced a new connection to Moldova, too.
